Mr Picard

Mr Picard

Found this over on ArtStation by and artist MuYoung Kim. From their description:

The return of Capt. Picard to Star Trek is yet another thing I'm totally jazzed about. Set 20 years after Nemesis, I bet Picard spent some of that time in pursuit of his great love of History, perhaps even retiring to Archeology rather than the vineyard. Also, this was a fun chance to explore non-Starfleet Federation attire, something you never see much of in Trek.

Cataloging Gaseous Anomalies

Cataloging Gaseous Anomalies

Still in my phase of re-texturing other people models into blender cycles, I don't have a lot of free time at the moment in big chunks, so re-texturing fits nicely into the small bits I do have. I had seen people mention the quality of Nightfever's Sovereign Class mesh, aka the Enterprise-E.

After signing up at his website, here, I was able to download his many variants and found that the FBX version got loaded into blender beautifully. There is even a full captain's yacht in there, not shown in this image.

Shuttlecraft Chaffee

Shuttlecraft Chaffee

This is one of my favourite lightwave meshes that was released. Shuttlecraft Chaffee that was deployed from the Defiant in DS9. I loved the lines in the model and learned so much from this one.

This was originally modeled by Nico Weigand converted by MattC and cleaned by infinityloop. The mesh I started with was a ligtwave mesh, but I believe it was originally MAX.

I can't believe the mesh is over 11 years old. I decided to see if it would stand up to being pulled into blender cycles. It got a little messy, the is a lot of extra detail being provided as a bump layer. Some of source images were so low rez that I redid them in inkscape and blew them up to get some sharper details.

Eleanora Fleury Medical Command Ship

Eleanora Fleury Medical Command Ship

I very much enjoy the meshes that David Metlesits releases. I am still in my learning phase with blender, but I was super keen to convert this mesh over from MAX into blender cycles. This is the Eleanora Fleury a medical command ship. (I am showing my heritage with the name)

Mutara Discovery

Mutara Discovery

This week Chris Khun released his blender model of the Discovery. I decided to pair it with another find, Mark Kingsnorth nebula generation in blender. He has loads of examples but my eye was caught by one that looked so familiar, the Mutara Nebula.

Essex Beauty

Essex Beauty

Further adventures in blender texturing. I decided to try and convert one of metlesitsfleetyards meshes from the enterprise timeframe over to blender cycles. So this is the Daedelus class mesh done in the style of enterprise, ala Aethernaut.

I was very fortunate that blender, as per 2.79, have the Principled BSDF shader, which gave it that mice metallic look, soooo easy! Check out : this video if you are interested in such things.

Shuttlecraft Takura

Shuttlecraft Takura

I took some time out and converted Raul Mamoru's Galileo mesh over too Blender Cycles. This is the mesh that contains the UV unwrapped registry that was in a psd file. I converted it over to an SVG and regenerated the registry.

I would like to see a phase II version of the shuttlecraft one day, but I imagine that even after the the ships got updated there were a few old school shuttlecrafts in use.

Takura is the Maori word for Sirius, the Dog Star.

Interceptor class at Warp #360

This is my first 360 video. It is the same scene as the previous video, however, the camera was swapped out and replaced with an equirectangular to have the whole scene done in 360.

You can look around as all the stars pass by, yay! I sat down to attempt this shot nearly 4 years ago, I can't believe it took me this long to get there!

Interceptor class at Warp #2

Here is an updated attempt at a ship at warp in blender, it looks very similar to the last one, except it is all done in blender, I have converted over the interceptor mesh from Lightwave. It is rendered using cycles and the stretched stars now have that rainbow effect that seen on the TV shows.

Bhaskara in Sun

Bhaskara in Sun

I was very excited to wake up this morning to find out that the U.S.S. Shenzhou blender mesh that ChrisKuhn was working at over the weekend was finished and released.

As is my way I try to see if the registry can be changed, which was easy/hard enough, so here is the U.S.S. Bhaskara, a sister ship of the Shenzhou that is still in operation and hasn't been blown up by the Klingons, yet! (Spoilers!)
